There can be planning and building control issues that need to be addressed and owners should consider whether to plan for future separation when it comes to bills and services.

At no15 we made two simple doorways between the properties at each floor.  We then separated part of the rear of the house to become a self-sufficient annex with metered services.  Internal alterations achieved a generous living room, master bedroom and en-suite and the annex benefitted from a large bedroom and study.
