No 1

New House in garden plot

This is a 3 bedroom house, built at the end of the owner's long garden.  The brief was for an energy efficient, accessible house with plenty of daylight and garden potential.

Achieving planning permission for garden plot houses is a challenge because of the many planning considerations which need to be addressed.  There are other issues such as access, drainage and fire engine access which also need to be resolved.

Studio Hobohm successfully achieved permission for No1 under delegated powers and within the statutory consultation period.

Two pitched roof volumes slide into each other reducing the visual impact of the floor area. The theme of boxes in boxes is carried through to the cladding materials culminating in the warm cedar lining of the secret courtyard.
